Dental Implants & Naperville Dentists Offering Dental Implants

Dental Implant Information

Dental implants are ideal to replace broken or damaged teeth. Be advised that these dental implants can be a costly procedure as well as lengthy procedure.

Typically, dental implants have a starting cost around $1000 dollars for each tooth. If you have dentures, bridges, broken or damaged teeth dental implants could be a great investment for your smile. This procedure has very low failure rates. If a failure was to occur, chances are that there was an undetected bacterial infection during the install of the implant.

Timeframes needed to complete the dental implant procedure have a few contributing factors. One such factor is state of the jawbone. If the doctor needs more jawbone to work with, bone grafting may be required. This process must be completed and healed before the dental implant can be installed.

Osseointegration is a process where a titanium post is screwed into the jawbone. This must be left for 3-6 months so that the bone can fuse around it. A plate style implant may be used between the gum and the jawbone if the bone integrity is not ideal.

Once the healing has completed, the doctor will make a cast of the mouth. Then a ceramic tooth will be made to match the existing shape and color of the teeth.

It is always advisable to consult your dentist regarding dental implants. In some cases, they may be able to offer you a finance plan to have the procedure done. Be sure to ask any and all questions about dental implants with your.

Battling Bad Breath? Medication/s May Be The Problem

If a thorough brushing and some Listarine are ineffective in your battle against bad breath, you may have a serious condition that, if not looked into, could cause detrimental effects to your teeth, mouth and gums.

This condition is called xerostomia. This is morecommonly known as dry mouth, medications are one of the most common causes of the disorder. Almost every medication lists dry mouth as a side effect.

According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, over400 prescription medications, including some developed for asthma relief, depression and cholesterol reduction, and other common conditions can cause xerostomia – a condition that is a major cause of halitosis (bad breath).

The condition also can cause cracked lips, cavities, bleeding gums and canker sores, leading to the deterioration of oral and dental health. Severe cases of xerostomia can inhibit the ability to speak or swallow.

Other causes of xerostomia include diseases such as diabetes and undergoing radiation therapy or chemotherapy treatment for cancer. However, the disorder is often ignored until serious oral damage occurs.

Dental researchers have discovered that saliva contains natural antibacterial agents, which help to keep your mouth healthy and neutralize bacteria that can cause bad breath. If you don’t have enough saliva, you become more susceptible to dental problems, such as an increase in plaque buildup and bleeding gums.

Treatment of dry mouth depends on what’s causing the condition, then taking the appropriate steps to minimize the symptoms. Unfortunately for people with dry mouth caused by medication use, little can be done to correct it.

However, if you suffer from xerostomia, many medical and dental professionals agree that you should use products specifically developed for the treatment of the condition, such as Biotene and Oralbalance products by Laclede Inc. These xerostomia treatment products contain a patented enzyme system developed to treat and restore health to a dry mouth and are available over the counter.

Brushing your teeth twice a day with Biotene Dry Mouth Toothpaste will help inhibit harmful bacteria in your mouth and fight the causes and effects of bad breath and gingivitis. It helps reduce bacteria and oral irritants because it contains salivary enzymes that boost and replenish saliva’s own defenses. Biotene Gentle Mouthwash is alcohol-free, which helps freshen and moisten dry, sensitive tissue in your mouth. Due to its antibacterial enzymes, it kills the bacteria that cause oral infections and gingivitis.

Dry mouth sufferers also are advised to avoid starchy foods, floss daily and have a dental checkup at least twice a year. Also, make sure to brush regularly and floss at least once a day.

Tips on Looking for a New Dentist

Looking For A Dentist - THIS IS A MUST READ!!!
Looking For A Naperville Dentist?
If you grew up going to a certain dentist, you developed a level of trust with that practitioner. As you look for a new dentist for the first time as an adult, you may have trouble choosing one because it's hard to build trust quickly. If you're anything like me you probably are at somewhat of a loss as to what to look for in a Dentist. You'll also need to fill out new forms, such as your medical history and insurance information. Below are five tips to help you when finding a new dentist, whether your need is motivated by relocating, your current dentist's office closing, or an insurance change.

Talk to Friends and Family

The best recommendations come by word-of-mouth. The other great benefit is someone you know and trust is recommending someone they know and trust. When looking for a new dentist, talk to friends and family near you, as someone in the area probably already has a dentist they may like.  They will be able to provide an honest, subjective evaluation of their dentists, offering both pros and cons that might not be readily available other places. When talking to friends be sure to discuss price points, insurance providers, and any concerns they might have with their current dentist's office. It's possible their dental insurance works at their dentist but yours won't so this is something you will want to know about. Also, if you're new to an area and don't have many friends yet, hit up your coworkers for advice; most will be happy to help.

Research Options Online

Find a website dedicated to reviews of dentists to help you in your search. Use a specific practice's name or your zip code to research dentist offices in your area on websites such as RateMDs, Yelp, or Angie's List. RateMDs is specifically for rating doctors and dentists. The other two websites are more general, but they are designed to contain reviews written by actual consumers. I personally find Yelp to be very helpful when looking for a dentist or any other service for that matter.

Visit Local Dentist Offices

Though online reviews and personal recommendations can be immensely helpful, you may work better with actual physical interaction. Though you may feel wierd doing it there really is nothing wrong with sitting down and interviewing a dentist. In this case, simply use the yellow pages to locate a few local dentist practices, and take a day to visit each briefly, discussing any questions or concerns you might have with the receptionist and, if possible, the practicing dentist. If a dentist is not willing to take a few minutes to sit down with you, it's probably not someone you want as a dentist anyways. By visiting in person, you can get a better feel for how well a dentist practice will fit your needs and fit into the routine of your family. Be sure to ask questions about accepted insurance, cancellation policies, and do not be afraid to ask the dentist about his background in the field. Though it is not necessary to find a dentist who went to a top-tier school, it may be comforting for you to know your doctor's educational background.

Talk to Your Current or Former Dentist

If you have a dentist currently and need to switch for any reason or if you are still able to get into contact with your previous dentist, do not be afraid to approach them about finding a new practice. Many dentists will have networking systems and may be able to recommend a trusted peer. These recommendations are particularly useful if you are comfortable with your current dentist and his values; oftentimes, networks are developed through common practices or similar personalities. Dentist can also be a very helpful resource in finding another dentist if you need one.

Check with Your Insurance Provider

If none of these ideasprove useful for you, check with your insurance provider to determine the offices that accept your given insurance, and go from there. Use online resources to compare each office, or contact each office directly, expressing any concerns such as a child sensitive to pain, or a husband with a history of dental problems, to ensure the right fit for you and your family. Bear in mind that you are under no obligation to stay with a dentist's office after a preliminary visit; if you are not pleased with your choice, do not be afraid to contact another office. 1-800 Dentists is another good place to turn.

When searching for a new dentist, do not be afraid to ask for help. Talk to friends and family about their dentists and their experiences, take advantage of online review resources, and don't shy away from visiting new dental practices in person to get a better idea of how that practice will fit into the routine of your life. When searching for a new dentist, do not be timid; call local dental offices, discuss dental offices with coworkers or neighbors; do not rule anyone out as a possible source of advice. The most important part of seeking a new dentist, however, is to make sure that you feel comfortable with your new dental practitioner, and your needs will be met.

One last thing, if you're someone who's nervous about visiting a dentist look for a sedation dentist, these dentists often specialize in dealing with patients who are especially nervous about dentists and also sometimes will be able to provide medications to alleviate your nerves.

Reviews

I've been taking my kids here for almost 2 years.  My son had a nasty fall and ended up chipping 2 teeth and loosing a front tooth.  This was so traumatic for him and myself as well.  But the entire staff was so kind, patient and professional. That really eased a pretty stressful process.

I still take my little ones here for their 6 month check ups.  Both of mine are finally old enough to go into the appointments by themselves while I wait in the waiting room.  They do this starting at 3 years to sort of ease the fear with kids and create a rapport between the kids and the dentist. The hygienists and front desk staff give little reports about how the little ones are doing and were sensitive to my sons speech delay.

The waiting room is ultra comfortable.  It's more like a fancy living room than a doctors office. Recent magazines, Keurig coffee machine, toys and books for kids, and newer movies on the flat screen help to put everyone at ease.

I really wish I could get an appointment here, but they are booked solid.  With the caliber of service they give, I'm not the least bit surprised.

This practice has it all - great doctor that actually know what they're doing, great staff, and great equipment....cleaniness is an important concern in a dental office for me and I'm a 100% comfortable here.

I have been very happy with NDS. I am new to the area and one of my co workers had suggested that I check them out. Since my first visit I have recommended them to everyone I know.

I love this place. I went in with a small bone spur and left with clean teeth and the spur gone. Dr. LaVacca did a great job. The office is run very smoothly. They all have ear pieces so that they can communicate. The office is very clean. Love this place.

This is a family-friendly dentist.  Very caring and polite all of the time.  They're located in the heart of downtown Naperville and parking isn't a problem.  Even is you are there on a busy day, it's a nice walk anyway.
Because I'm a royal wuss at the dentist, I really appreciate the state-of-the-art equipment.
I would recommend them to anyone.

Reviews:

Dr. Wells has been our family dentist for years.  My kids like him.  He's good at what he does and so professional.

Regardless of what procedure he's doing...  He explains in as much detail as "you" want and makes sure you're at ease.

His offices are great and the staff is very friendly.

I love the new practice Dr. Wells has set up.  He is truly kind and caring.  I brought a new "fraidy cat" patient to him and he did a great job with her as well.  Good with frightened patients! I would characterize him as the most gentle dentist I have ever seen.

Dr. Wells is always willing to go the extra step to accommodate his patients schedule. He also is willing to work with you on your treatment options. I really enjoy how he is willing to explain the technical aspects behind your dental care. Best of luck in your new practice !

I haven't been to his new location yet but I saw Dr Wells when he was with Delacy Wells Dental.  He is the most caring, gentle Dentist I've ever found, and he is especially good at calming my dental phobias.  Can't vouch for the new facility yet, but i love Dr. Wells as a dentist and tell anyone I can about his services!

I've always felt a little nervous about going to the dentist but I felt very comfortable from the moment I walked in the door. Incredible office and top notch service. Highly recommended.
